Christmas in Africa!

Our class is helping to provide Christmas for a child in Uganda, Africa. Elizabeth is 7 years old and lives in an all girls' orphanage. We are asking everyone to get couple of items from the list to help create a stocking and goody bag for her. All items need to be turned in by next Friday, November 15th. Thanks for helping make Christmas special for Elizabeth!

Mathematician of the Week!

Brody is rocking in math! He not only made a 100 on his multiplication test but a 100 on his division test yesterday!! Way to go Brody!

We had 11 students make their AR goals 1st quarter! Not only did they receive treats from the library, bu this morning they got Krispy Kreme! Way to go! So proud of you guys! (Not pictured: Alyssa)

Crabs, frogs, millipedes oh my!

The kids had a great time observing our animals - prompting us to think about biotic, abiotic factors of an ecosystem and adaptations animals have to meet their needs and survive in their habitats.

Montgomery Field Trip!

The Montgomery Field Trip permissions form was sent home today! This is such a fabulous trip! The kids love it!! Parents- we would love to have as many of you as possible to journey with us, so mark October 10th down of your calendar! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! More information will come home closer to the date. 

Meet Miss Black!

We are so fortunate to have a student intern from my own alma mater, Auburn University. Miss Black will be with us until the first of December. She is such an asset to our classroom! If you didn't have a chance to meet her at Meet the Teacher, then you will definitely see her next Tuesday at Open House at 5:15 - 6:30. We both hope to see all of you there!

Art Project and Handbook form

I hope all of you had a great week and now enjoying this fabulous weekend! We will begin an art project - self-portraits - on Monday. I sent home Friday a note regarding this project. 

 If you have any of the following please send it:

*Paint brushes

*Scrap book paper

*Fun decorative duct tape or anything that is 2D - we will be laminating so it needs to be flat. 

Parents- if you would like to HELP at 1:30 any day next week (except Monday), please email me!! 

Also, please sign and return on Monday J. Larry Newtons handbook form. Please read and discuss the form with your child. If returned on Monday, your child receives a little happy!

What's going on this week?

We are having a great time starting our math unit on multiplication! Parents: please make sure you spend time working with your child daily, weekly on multiplication facts.

This week, we are still getting into the groove of things! We will start spelling next week along with an official reading story. However, we will have a Daily Oral Language quiz on Friday. 

Please make sure you are looking at your child's Clip chart daily. If your child had to move their clip down, they will fill out a parent notification form. If you see one of these, please discuss this with your child, sign it, and make sure your child returns it to school the next day.

Also, don't forget no school on Monday!!

Book box

Some of you wanted to see what the book box looked like....several students already made there's and brought them in - covered in decorative duck tape (which really made the boxes extra sturdy)! Have fun making your book boxes!

Look who made it to the TOP!

So proud of these kids who made it to the TOP- Outstanding- on our clip chart on the first days of school!! They earned their first jewel....Way to go!

Also so proud of Brody who made it to the "top" of outstanding! Super impressive! He is the first to get to spin the wheel! Way to go kidos!!

First Day was Awesome!

I hope when your kiddo got home, they were excited about their first day in 4th grade! The day was full of procedures and just getting to know each other. That is how much of this week will be! More information will be sent home tomorrow that will you parents! Thank you so much for sending in extra supplies and goodies from the Wish List! I truly appreciate your generosity!
